Heheh don't ask me what those random photos are for. I am random hence I post random photos. It's only right.
The 2nd photo is a classic though. This particular bus in Germany had headless ppl painted on it, and the seats placed coinciding with the headless painted body. I hope you get what I am going on about.
>_<
Now I know it is totally unrelated but I NEED TO POST a photo of Wenghong's surprise belated bday tiramisu cake that Mingwei, Yipei n I made!
And so far I think its the coolest cake we made EVER, coz it has TEETH WITH GUMS ( pink n white dunno if u can make out the teeth ), and LIPS on IT!
COOLBEANS right. ( term ini diciplak dari mw ) =)

I know I know, you guys must be thinking, see so much of TEETH in clinics not enough ka. EVEN CAKE ALSO WANNA PUT TEETH?
Hehe the story of our lives. =)
On another random note, I PASSED 3rd YEAR!! =) Yippeee =)
Sekian. I ran out of randomness dy. Till I find more next time. Toodledoo!

You know sometimes when you screw up and you wish the world would just swallow you up so you never see living daylight or another human being again, people do the sweetest things to show you you're still worth it.

=)

This time around it was my 80yr old patient, Ruth. She came in yesterday, and I gave her the dentures we've been constructing for the past 2months ( almost, due to exams and all which caused delay abit here and there ).

She was so pleased with the new set of teeth I made her, as she has been toothless for awhile.

And nothing is more rewarding for a dentist than a happy and satisfied patient.

What was more, she brought me gifts to thank me for it! Her son brought me chocolates too =)
( More cadbury roses!! ) =)

Guess what else she brought me?
A very OLD photograph of her with MALAYANS in London.

The lady at the most right, according to her, was Miss Malaya at that time, she was at the other end of the table, and facing them were all Malayans from the Malayan embassy. ( OMG COOLNESS RIGHTT )

So I was ooh-ing and aah-ing at the photo, and I gave it back to her. I mean I have patients who bring in photos of their family cat dog ancestors familyhouse swimming pool grandnephew etcetc to show me, but they just wanted to show it to me, not GIVE it to me.

I looked at it, and helped her put it back in her bag ( she was wheelchairridden ). Carried on with treatment, and because there wasn't much to alter, so we finished real quick and soon it was time to send her off.

And she said to me, " I will miss you. Don't forget me. "

Awwwwwwww. So sweet. =)

Sent her out to the waiting room, and she took out the photo and gave it to me.

"I want you to have it. You made me a new set of teeth, now maybe you can make me a new pair of legs. " ( heheh jokingly of course ) =)

I was so touched I was on the verge of tears.

I write to remind myself of the rewards this profession can offer. I want to remember the joys of good dental care and how grateful some people can be for what you do for them.

Yes, even in the crappiest of days when you wished you never did dentistry.

I'm so hungry now I can eat a whole elephant.

I had such a depressing morning I don't even want to talk about it.

The funny thing is, in my college days whenever I get upset I tend to develop a huge apetite, but nowadays food just loses its appeal whenever life throws its bag of thorns at me.

Is that a good thing? Can I actually say BUBBYE to binge eating at last?

In Germany,

Cass, BT and myself did everything a tourist could do.

1. We ATE like crazy.

2. We camwhored like camwhores. =)

( which of course includes a jumping photo which has now become mandatory)

3. We yakked and yakked. As usual. =)

4. And of course, more camwhoring. Every 'statue' seen is a photo opportunity, naturally.

5. Most unusual activity of my trip has to be me playing LEGO in a shop in Hamburg with a 3yr old kid. =) Fun-ness.

All in all it was a very relaxing trip! =)

Dr. Gormally is my hero.

This morning I went for Oral surgery without a single thought that this would happen to my wisdom tooth nicely hiding under my gums covered by bone.

So it was a morning of extractions, and I did a lower left molar which refused to come out because of the patient's super dense bone and curved roots. Anyways that was besides the point.

I was standing around, and suddenly it occured to me that I had this partially erupted wisdom tooth that causes me occasional pain. I've been meaning to get it extracted, but the thought of extractions was freaky I kinda stalled it for as long as I could.

And, so happened my yauyeng SUPER skilled tutor, Dr. Gormally was standing nearby. So I just walked up to him and told him about my tooth. I asked if he would extract my tooth for me, and he so kindly said yes! I thought he would forget about it coz the clinic was quite busy, but he went straight away to write me an xray form!

Yipei kindly offered to hold my hand throughout the procedure, and she waited with me for a freaking 3hours before it was my turn! THANK YOU SO MUCH YIPEI =)

I know what I'm going to say next is going to sound ridiculous, but I HAVE DENTAL PHOBIA. Ever since I was young, I was so scared of going to the dentist my mum had to drag me there.
Yes yes, its ironic I'm studying to be one, isn't it? =) Oh well. As I said before its different being on the other side of the chair and ON the chair itself heheh.

Dr. Gormally gave me local anaesthetic, and went ahead with taking the tooth out by cutting a flap on my gums. Lots of pushing and prodding around with many familiar instruments, and I've seen him do his job so many times I know he would do it well. He's really gentle too =)

Within 10minutes, my tooth was out and my gums were stitched. Yipei and Ailing, whose warm hands I was squeezing, were in disbelief that it was all done.

DR. GORMALLY IS SO GENG LAR!! Seriously you see the way this guy works, super neat efficient and careful. I knew I could trust him with my teeth, for he is superb at what he does.

The funny part was that, the whole clinic was filled with my coursemates, who were having their oral surgery that afternoon. They all came to watch, and there were so many people around the cubicle the nurses thought something big was happening they came to watch too.

It was all such a big fuss I was quite amused. So was dr. Gormally.

but I'm so lucky to have friends who care to come and hold my hands throughout the unpleasant procedure. THANK YOU YIPEI and AILING =) its so much better to grip warm hands instead of the dental chair in fear.

and THANK YOU dr. Gormally, you will always be my idol. =)

I wait for the day when I would have such skill. I hope that day would come.

For now its post-op pain which has to be drowned with lots of paracetamol and ibuprofen. Not nice. =(

Me is back! =) Ponteng class 3days for a short trip to Germany.

Because I am budak baik ( kononnya =p ), before I went I thought to myself, this better be worth it.

And it was. =) Despite the guilt of leaving Abdullah ( my clinical partner ) alone on Wednesday to deal with 'trial insertion' for his partial denture patient, which I apologised profusely for several times, I did think of him on Wednesday morning as he asked me to in return of ditching him.

In fact it was me stressing over not being able to nurse for him than him stressing over having to work alone.

=) thank you Abdullah, for covering up for me =)

The 6pd return flight to Bremen, Germany proved to be worth every penny.
More photos when I get them from Cass! =)

Sunday 8 June 2008

The after-exam whatnots.

AVRIL in CONCERT!!!
Why YOU GO AND MAKE THINGS SO COMPLICATED? I SEE THE WAY YOU're ACTING LIKE SOMEBODY ELSE MAKES ME FRUSTRATED Life's LIKE THIS YOU FALL and YOU CRAWL and YOU BREAK and YOU TAKE WHAT YOU GET and TURN IT INTO HONESTY and PROMISE ME I'M NEVER GONNA FIND YOU FAKE IT no no no.....

Screamed her famous hits with her and my two closest buddies, reminiscing the good ol' days of college where music got us through tough times.

Although undoubtedly we've grown out of our teenage years, it was still a GREAT night out.
When I came back from London, I FINALLY watched the superduperstylomylo CARRIE BRADSHAW on BIG SCREEN in Sex and The City! OMG her SHOESS and her CLOTHESSS are absolutely breathtaking. Seeing Charlotte poop in her pants was tummysquashing tearfalling-ly HILARIOUS, and the friendship between the 4 women throughout the series which I loyally follow till the very end was amazingly real.
Not even the worst thing in life would defeat you if you have a group of friends there to pick you up and be there when you fall.
And yes, CARRIE got her HAPPY ENDING with BIG, at last. =)

Yesterday I went to Lake District with Meilin and her church gang.
3 words to sum it up : FUN, RELAXING and SUNBURN.

the 2 Joanne's and myself =)

The fun after exams is now over, I have an essay due tomoro which I haven't written a word for, and a 10kg( exaggerated here but u know wad i mean ) pile load of clothes to wash.
NOT FUN AT ALL.
