My very FIRST betting experience.

Today after badminton Alex said, "Lets go to Ladbrokes. Its the Grand National today."

Hahaha I SWEAR I didnt know what was the Grand National. Neither did I know what kind of business Ladbrokes did.

Alex had patiently explained to Francisco and I, the significance of this horse race to the English people.

( HAHAHA this is not ALEX's EXPLANATION lar, I wiki-ed it. =) )
The Grand National (known as the John Smith's Grand National for sponsorship reasons) is the most valuable National Hunt horse race in the world. It is the biggest betting race in the world, and is popular amongst many people who do not normally watch or bet on horse racing at other times of the year. It is also one of the most controversial, due to the high profile given to injuries and fatalities suffered by the participating horses. It has been targeted by animal rights groups who have campaigned to have it banned. One rider has also died as a result of injuries sustained in the race.

So HOW DID I CHOOSE MY HORSE?

Hahahaha I knew NUTS about betting. Never watched a horse race in my entire life before.

So I decided I'll choose according to which name catches my attention most.

First name that caught my attention; was SNOWY MORNING. There were others that made me want to burst out laughing, like Comply Or Die, Idle Talk, In The High Grass, No Full, Tumbling Dice, King John's Castle and Vodka Bleu. Mind you, THESE ARE NAMES OF HORSES.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I wonder if Comply Or Die has that kind of attitude, Idle Talk enjoys yakking idly on a hot summer afternoon with his horse buddies, No Full never felt full, In The High Grass likes tall uncut grass, or Vodka Bleu actually orders vodka bleu ONLY on a night out?

SO yes. I started to feel the connection with Snowy Morning already. He just sounds so, so, pretty. A morning with snow, ahhhhhhhh perfecto.

HAHA I didnt want to waste money on something that I most probably would not get back, but wanted to have some fun still.
So I betted 50p each-way on my horse. Meaning that if my horse wins 1st,2nd, 3rd, or 4th I will win some money.

Waited for 4.15pm , and tuned in to BBC online. OMG when my horse was leading at 2nd place I was super duper excited you have no idea. TYPED FURIOUSLY on msn whilst watching and my friends thought I went abit crazy.

AND GUESS WHAT? I WON 3rd PLACE!!! HAHAHAHAHA I won 3pounds!

Hmmm what can you buy with 3 pounds u say?

Hahaha a subway meal set, mcD? Or a trip to the cinema! Hahaha but it wasnt about how much I won, its just the excitement of watching it all, and cheering my lovely Snowy Morning on, thats the amazing part of the experience.

I want to go to the GRAND NATIONALs next year! Itll be fun-ner to see the horses race live, and hear the loud hooves thundering the grounds, and crowds cheering. =)

I am so very tired now. But it was a super exciting day. =) Went to watch Vantage Point this evening, and I was literally at the edge of my seat because it was full of suspense. It was really quite good though! =)

SNOWY MORNING, YOU ROCK! ( hmmm I wonder how do you say that in Horse language )
